Puig, Clarins Fragrance Group sign fragrance distribution deal

Spanish perfume house Puig has signed a deal with France-based cosmetics company Clarins for the distribution of its fragrances in the North American marketplace, effective from 1 July 2013.

Puig fragrances will be distributed by Clarins North American arm Clarins Fragrance Group, which is currently operated by Coty,and is going to end on 30 June.

According to Marc Puig, chairman and CEO of Puig, both the firms have been in partnership for the past six years, during which Puig’s North American business has more than doubled.

As part of the new deal, the Clarins Fragrance Group in the US will provide back-office support services, while Puig will handle all marketing affairs for its own portfolio and will also manage key accounts.

Puig with its fragrance portfolio, which includes Prada, Valentino, Paco Rabanne, Carolina Herrera and Nina Ricci, is eyeing an increase in market share in beauty segment both in the US and Canada market.

Clarins Group North America president and CEO Jonathan Zrihen was quoted by news website .pambianconews.com as saying that the firm’s new decision is based on a similar successful experience with Inter Parfums for the last two years, which it believes is the model of sharing back-office costs and the opportunity of building together an efficient sales organization.

"It allows us to further invest in our brands as well as the in-store consumer experience, strengthening our positions in the market," Zrihen added.

Clarins Fragrance Group is a division of Clarins Group in the US and Canada, which distributes Thierry Mugler, Azzaro, David Yurman and Swarovski fragrance brands.
