Prestige Brands revenues rise by 39.1% in Q4 2011

American personal and wellness products firm Prestige Brands posted revenues of $134m for the fourth quarter 2011, an increase of 39.1% compared to $96.4m in the same quarter of 2011.

The firm’s revenues for the OTC segment in the fourth quarter of 2011 rose 53.3% to $109.7m compared to $71.6m for the corresponding period in 2011.

Increase in revenues for Prestige Brands was mainly from six of the firm’s nine core OTC brands, as well as the addition of two months of revenues from the newly acquired GSK Brands.

The firm’s net sales in the fourth quarter increased to $133.16m, compared with $95.63m for the fouth quarter in 2010, though the company reported a net loss of $15,000 for the fourth quarter compared to $ 6,414 for the same period in 2011.

Prestige Brands revenues for fiscal year 2012 increased to $441.1m, a rise of 31.6% compared to the 2011 revenues of $336.5m.

Prestige Brands president and CEO Matthew Mannelly said in less than three years, the company’s clear and consistent value creation strategy has taken hold.

"This quarter’s revenue increase reflects the success of our core OTC brand-building strategy, and includes two months of revenues from this quarter’s GSK Brands’ acquisition. Consumption was driven by increased A&P support resulting in our brands’ growth significantly exceeding category growth. Our nine legacy core OTC brands increased almost 15% despite the soft cough/cold season," said Mannelly.
