OPI to expand distribution in travel retail segment in 2013

American cosmetics giant Coty Prestige’s nail care brand OPI is planning to expand distribution of its products in duty-free travel retail segment in 2013.

The brand is planning to expand into 300 new travel-retail doors across Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific in 2013.

OPI, with products in more than 200 shades and in over 100 countries, sells more than 100 million bottles of nail lacquer worldwide annually..

The brand currently features 96 colours under its travel-retail range and also features promotions including OPI’s latest partnership with EON Production’s Skyfall, the new James Bond film, celebrated with 12 new 007-inspired shades for the 2012 holiday season.

Coty said its travel retail focuses on better execution with dynamic merchandising displays, which will highlight the brand’s range of colours and treatments, along with new creative promotional concepts to fire the imagination of consumers.

OPI, originally founded in1981, was acquired by Coty in 2010.

The brand has bagged more than 30 patents for its product ideas, including one for the distinctive nail lacquer bottle itself, which was recently selected by the US Patent and Trademark Office to exhibit its iconic bottle at the annual Trademark Exposition.

OPI has also collaborated with Hollywood stars Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Serena Williams, among others, rolling out new nail lacquers that reflect the artists’ personal favorite shades.

The OPI brand will be available for delegates of the Tax Free World Association World Exhibition which can be experienced by visiting the Wellbeing Lounge at the grand auditorium foyer on level one.
