Nova develops new wireless technology to help in skin care research

Nova Technology, a US-based scientific company, has developed a wireless skin hydration testing application singerie software (DPM 9003), with an aim to help industry professionals in the area of skin research.

The firm said the new app features Bluetooth technology, which is said to measure skin impedance, besides also providing a non-invasive, reproducible method to calculate biophysical characteristics and hydration of the skin, reported cosmeticsdesign.com.

According to the firm, as the research on impact of active ingredients on the skin is increasing, it is developing specifically developed applications catering to the personal care industry in formulation development or clinical testing.

The new technology provides dermatology and skin care researchers the opportunity to collect skin hydration data along with an iPad mobile digital service to capture a test site image, when the healing rate of skin is being determined, said the company.

Nova Technology representative said the new technology will help to conduct non-invasive skin research which has proved to be beneficial to researchers studying diseases like psoriasis or skin conditions, caused due to post-surgery or chemical treatments.

The firm claims the DPM impedance technology can become an important tool in dermatological research, though researchers at Nova are currently limiting their activities to the area of skin hydration.

Nova Technology develops and manufactures instrumentation designed to measure non-invasively various biophysical properties of the skin. Nova products are used in areas that include research in wounds and burns, dermatology, neonatalogy, in addition to the personal care industry.
