Mibelle Biochemistry develops new active ingredient for hair care formulations

Cosmetics ingredients firm Mibelle Biochemistry has developed AnaGain, a new active ingredient extracted from sprouts of organic pea for hair care formulations.

The firm’s new ingredient targets hair loss, by actively working on the dermal papilla cells to reactivate hair growth and reduce hair loss.
According to the firm, hair loss is caused by an imbalance of the hair growth cycle leading to a reduced number of growing-anagen hair simultaneously with an increased number of degenerating (telogen) ones.

The firm said the ingredient has undergone several experiments on plucked hair follicles through DNA microarray analysis, and it was found that the product has the ability to activate the dermal papilla, specific signal molecules, necessary to start the growth of new hair.

Mibelle Biochemistry said AnaGain, which underwent clinical experiments for three months on volunteers with mild to moderate hair loss, showed the capacity to reduce hair fall.

The study revealed that density of anagen hair was increased by 8%, while the density of telogen hair was reduced by more than 28 %.

Mibelle states that the ingredient by reactivating hair growth helps the hairs retain their original density and thickness.

The firm said the ingredient can be used in anti-hair loss, hair-regrowth formulations, anti-aging hair care products, hair tonics, serums, conditioners, masks and shampoos.
