Lotus Herbals plans to foray into Pakistani cosmetics market

Lotus Herbals, a India-based herbal skincare products manufacturer, is mulling entering the Pakistani cosmetics market, as part of its global market expansion strategy.

The company, whose exports make up 25% of its revenues, is optimistic about the Pakistani market as the populace in the neighbouring country has similar skin type to that of Indians.

Lotus Herbals director Nitin Passi was quoted by mydigitalfc.com as telling PTI that the company currently has presence in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, and that it was also looking at Pakistan as a key market.

"We have been growing at 35 per cent year on year and would like to maintain this rate in the current year," added Nitin Passi

The company, which offers various skin care, cosmetics and hair care products, had a turnover of INR1.75bn($31.47m) for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2012, reported the website.

Passi said company is anticipating its growth to be fuelled equally by the all the verticals, including skin care, hair care, make up and professional product range.

According to Passi, f the firm is planning to introduce its make-up range in 200 outlets in the next three months and also expecting to introduce its professional range products into13,000 salons in the next twelve months.

The company said its professional range products are currently offered at 6,500 beauty salons and spas across the country.

Lotus Herbals, which has two manufacturing plants in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh), has recently launched a premium make up range–PureStay in the domestic market.
