Kelantan Biotech plans to spread its presence all over Malaysia in 2013

Kelantan Biotech, a Malaysia-based health and beauty products manufacturer, is planning to extend the distribution of its its products all over the country in 2013.

The Kelantan-based firm, , currently offers three types of products including liquid products (shampoo and shower gel), solid products (facial and bath soap) and cream products such as body scrub and lotion in the region.

Kelantan Biotech production executive Nur Suryati Edid told the news agency Bernama.com that the firm in order to meet the demand for its products in the region is looking for more entrepreneurs and stockists, mainly in Kuala Lumpur, to distribute the products.

The company currently operates two facilities, of which one serves as a production plant and the other as a manufacturer of products.

Kelantan Biotech also owns a laboratory in the region for research and development of products.

The firm said it has recently invested MYR0.8m($0.2m) to build a nutraceuticals factory in Labok, Machang region, which will process virgin coconut oil (VCO).

According to the firm, VCO is used as the main ingredient in the production of all its products, as it possesses health supplements and natural cosmetic properties, which is a known source of medium chain fatty acids with more than 60% lauric acid.

The firm said the ingredient, which has a light fresh taste, has moisturising properties when applied on the skin, with quick absorption, giving healthier skin, hair and scalp.

Suryati said VCO has unique antioxidant properties, which claims to make it as a great moisturiser that also helps fight bacteria and other skin problems.

The firm said the factories were certified with Good Manufacturing Practice and also has the halal certification.
