Kahai develops new nut oil to target natural cosmetic makers in Europe

Kahai, a Colombia-based ingredient manufacturer, has developed a new Kahai nut oil to target the natural cosmetic manufacturers in Europe.

The firm, which claims to be the world’s first company to industrialise Kahai nut oil, said the new oil targets the anti-ageing category, as it possess skin nourishing and rejuvenating properties, which are well known in Colombia, reported cosmeticsdesign.com.

According to the firm, the oil’s most significant property is natural Retinol, which is the company claims it contains three times more than the amount found in Rose Hip Oil, while it is also said to contain 50% more Vitamin E and 75% more Vitamin F than Argan Oil.

The firm said apart from the skin rejuvenating properties, the oil also contains a high level of Omegas 3, 6 and 9, which makes the oil an excellent penetrative effect to the skin, providing a route for active ingredients to the deeper layers of the skin.

Kahai claims that the oil is approved by International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI), an international body giving companies trying to source such ingredients additional reassurance.

Kahai CEO Alberto Jaramillo Guerrero said getting the INCI name on board is an achievement in the development of the industry, and to be recognised as an ingredient for the cosmetic industry.

"With this registration, any company will be able to innovate in their portfolio, either selling Kahai Nut Oil pure for direct use or developing a whole line of face, body and hair care products based on it," added Guerrero.

The firm is planning to introduce Kahai nut oil into European market, beginning with French Market, and will later be expanded in the UK, Germany and Italy through local distributors.
