Feminine hygiene market in China to grow by over 10% through 2016: Report

The feminine hygiene market in China will witness a steady growth rate of over 10% from 2012 through 2016, but will be lower than that in the past five years, according to a report by Canadean Health & Beauty.

The report, The Future of the Feminine Hygiene Market in China to 2016, forecasts that the market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10.44% from 2011-16, compared to 14.22% from 2006-11.

The market value grew by 51% between 2006 and 2011, while it is expected to be nearly 61% between 2011 and 2016.

The market is predicted to grow by 10.5% in 2012, lesser than 15.7% recorded in 2011. It will grow at 10.60% in the next two years, before declining marginally to 10.40% in 2015 and further to 10.20% in 2016.

The growth rate in the next five years to 2016 is, however, lesser than that observed in the past five years from 2007 when it was 14.6%.

The rate peaked at 19.6% in 2008 before falling by almost half to 10.5% in 2009. It increased to 11.1% in 2010.

Sanitary pads will have the highest market value of 61% by 2016, followed by pantiliners & shields at 14%, tampons 13.5%, disposable razors & blades 10% and internal cleansers & sprays 1.5%.
