Facial Care to dominate the Italian skincare market till 2016: Report

The Italian skincare market, which has seen a declining growth rate from 2006-11, will fluctuate in the next five years up to 2016, finds a new report by Canadean.

According to the report, "The Future of the Skincare Market in Italy, to 2016", the skincare market in Italy has witnessed a declining growth rate from 4.65% in 2007 to 4.08% in 2011. It is forecasted to grow at 4.78% in 2012 and peak at 4.84% in 2015 before declining to 4.57% in 2016.

The skincare market, which includes Body Care, Depilatories, Facial Care, Hand Care and Make-up Remover segments, has been dominated by the Facial Care segment with a growth rate of 4.9% from 2006-11. It will continue to lead the market with 5.5% projected growth rate from 2011-16.

The Facial Care market growth has steadily declined from 5.4% in 2007 to 4.7% in 2010. It remained constant in 2011. The growth rate is expected to peak in 2012 and 2015 at 5.7%.

The consumer price of the Facial Care products which was 1.4% in 2007 declined to 0.9% in 2011 and will continue to fall to -0.5% in 2016.

The Body Care consumption (volume) growth declined from 3.05% in 2007 to 2.72% in 2011. It is predicted to grow consistently to peak in 2016 at 4.03%.

The growth rate of the market value of Body Care, which was also downward from 2007-11, will steadily increase from 3.14% in 2011 to 3.59% in 2016.

The growth rate of Body Care consumer price, which was the highest at 0.50% in 2010, will continuously fall to -0.42% in 2016.

The Italian Depilatories market value, which fell from 2.3% in 2007 to 1.8% in 2011, will continue its downward trend to 1.1% in 2016. The average consumer price rate will also decline from 0.6% in 2007 to -1.9% in 2016.

The consumption growth rate in the Hand Care segment was constant in 2007 and 2008 at 1.3% and in 2010 and 2011 at 1.4%. It is forecasted to peak in 2013 at 2.1% but fall to 1.1% in 2016. The market value growth rate fell from 2.3% in 2007 to 2.21% in 2011. It will increase to 2.43% in 2012 and 2.68% in 2013 but decline to 1.89% in 2016.

The consumer price rise in the Hand Care segment saw a downward trend from 1.02% in 2007 to 0.76% in 2011. It is predicted to grow at 0.75% in 2016.

Consumption in the Make-up Remover segment which had a declining growth rate from 1.93% in 2007 to 1.80% in 2011, will increase considerably by 2.66% in 2016. The growth rate of the market value in this segment fell from 2.4% in 2007 to 2.1% in 2011. It will continue to fall in 2012 to 2% before increasing steadily to 2.7% in 2016. The consumer price growth rate will continue to fall to 0% in 2016.
