DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products partner with Brenntag India for Zemea distribution

US-based petroleum-free cosmetics ingredients manufacturer DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products has partnered with India-based chemical distributor Brenntag India for distrbution of Zemea propanediol, a 100% biobased ingredient.

According to the firm, the new ingredient, manufactured from corn sugar through fermentation process, has been developed for use in the cosmetics and personal care products formulations.

The company said the ingredient is an alternative for petroleum-based glycols and glycerin, where the product’s properties such as skin moisturisation, skin smoothening are its benefits.

The product, certified by US Department of Agriculture as biobased, holds both Kosher and Halal certifications.

DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products account executive Gowri Nagarajan said they were happy to partner with Brenntag India which has experienced sales, marketing and technical teams to represent the ingredient in India.

"They will deliver excellent value to the formulators by promoting Zemea®, a superior glycol alternative that is not only functionally better but also environmentally friendly," Nagarajan said.

Brenntag India personal care business manager Prasad Pawar said the launch of new active in India will give a boost for natural and eco-certified products.

"We are positive that Zemea® will contribute significantly as a certified glycol alternative in the long run," Pawar said.

Brenntag India said in addition to the products distribution authorisation in India, it will also hold the distribution responsibility for Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
