Crodarom introduces new ginseng active for skin care formulations

US-based personal care ingredients manufacturer Crodarom has introduced a new ginseng active, possessing natural antioxidant and antibacterial properties, which has caught the fancy of skin care manufacturers who can use it for skin care formulations.

The company said the new ginseng active can be added to the formulations as a multifunctional ingredient that balances oil gland production, lessens wrinkles, minimises inflammation or provides tone and luminance, reports cosmeticsdesign-europe.com.

According to the company, all three species of the actives such as the Asian or Korean ginseng, the American ginseng and the Siberian ginseng have been used in cleansers, toners and moisturising lotions that have elasticity as well as acne treatment properties.

The firm said the Purple Ginseng provides balance in a skin care formulation for acne sufferers to fight with sebum and address skin and scalp imperfections.

Crodarom said the ginseng’s catechic, gallic tannins and chlorogenic acid content aids treatment of the hyperseborrhoea, comedones, infections and redness and shine caused by sebum.

According to the researchers in Brazil, they found ginseng helps reduce dark circles and under eye puffiness.

The firm claims that ginseng has shown 90% improvement in tone and luminance of the eye area which was noted in Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.

Crodarom also said that the ingredient’s key factors such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity were key factors behind the improvement.
