Colgate inks deal with Omron Healthcare to develop oral care products

American consumer products manufacturer Colgate-Palmolive has teamed up with Omron Healthcare, a US-based manufacturer and distributor of home health management products, to develop and market oral care products, including electric toothbrushes.

Colgate said the new partnership would help the firms to jointly produce new oral care solutions, which contribute to improve oral health for global consumers.

According to the firm, the new deal was inked on the basis of Colgate’s global marketing techniques, consumer insights and capabilities in research and development, and Omron’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities and sensing and control technologies.

The partnership is expected to jointly launch a new range of electric toothbrushes in 2012 based on Omron technology and will be commercialised under Colgate brand.

Colgate also plans to utilize the partnership to expand into the electric toothbrush category, whose expertise lies in manual toothbrushes.

Colgate-Palmolive global toothbrush division VP and general manager Issam Bachaalani said the company is happy to enter into an agreement with Omron, a company experienced in innovative technologies and development potentialities.

"At Colgate, we are committed to improving oral health around the world and through this new relationship with Omron, we will be further expanding our ability to meet the oral care needs of more consumers and dental professionals," Bachaalani added.

American-based Colgate-Palmolive is a consumer products company, whose portfolio includes toothpaste and toothbrushes with brands such as Colgate Total Advanced, Colgate Optic White, Colgate ProClinical White, Colgate 360°, Colgate Max White, Colgate Total Professional. Besides personal care, the firm also offers home care and pet nutrition products.
