Unilever brand Love Beauty and Planet joins Recycling Partnership in US

Unilever brand Love Beauty and Planet has joined the Recycling Partnership to help develop a recycling system in Falls Church, Virginia, US.

The beauty brand is also aiming to reduce its own carbon footprint by 20% by 2020 and will be contributing $40 to the Recycling Partnership for every carbon ton of greenhouse gas that is emitted during the production and distribution of its products.

In addition, the company will be donating its profits from holiday gift sets sold this year to the Recycling Partnership.

Love Beauty and Planet global brand director Molly Landman said: “We believe this starts with small, but impactful acts, whether that’s making our bottles out of 100% recycled material, or reducing our carbon footprint and supporting incredible organisations like The Recycling Partnership that are changing recycling in the US.”

The Recycling Partnership aims to help Americans participate in recycling, double the current recycling rate, and capture 22 million tons of recyclables per year.

Other goals include avoiding 50 million metric tons of greenhouse gas and saving $250m in contamination costs annually.
