True Beauty Ventures invests in hair care firm Aquis

True Beauty Ventures (TBV), a US-based growth fund focused on beauty, wellness, and personal care, has invested in hair care company Aquis.

Aquis is claimed to provide clean, clinically proven products to restore and protect hair health.

This marks the first investment by TBV, which was formed by True Beauty Capital earlier this year.

Developed on a technology-based approach to reducing the damaging effects of water, AQUIS has created the first moisture-wicking towels and turbans that help hair dry 50% faster.

Its co-founders Britta Cox and Suveen Sahib after extensively studying the biology of hair, found that excess water is the primary reason for hair damage, especially for chemically-compromised hair.

Aquis has enhanced its offerings to feature three aspects of healthy hair care: drying, washing, and chemical damage.

The Aquis Prime hair care system features a prewash, hair and scalp wash, and leave-in serum that help to maintain the integrity of the hair.

Furthermore, the research team at Aquis mapped the keratin genome to launch K18Peptide, which is a treatment to repair and restore bleached, coloured, and chemically treated hair with fewer, cleaner ingredients.

K18Peptide makes use of a patented biomimetic keratin peptide technology that strengthens hair from within. It is claimed to be clinically proven to help achieve healthier hair in four  minutes.

The latest investment will help Aquis in its continued growth, to rollout K18Peptide, market new product innovations, and appoint new people.

True Beauty Ventures took part in an existing Series B round, which was led by Springboard Growth Capital (SGC), and existing investors.
