US FDA to investigate Chaz Dean’s WEN cleansing conditioner products

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating reports related to hair loss,  breakage, itching, and rashes allegedly caused by WEN cleansing conditioner product by hair salon Chaz Dean in Los Angeles, California.

It is suggested that the consumers who experience a reaction after using WEN products should immediately stop using it and consult a dermatologist or other healthcare provider.

The FDA has also asked the customers to report to the agency about any reactions they might have experienced while using the cleansing conditioner products.

As reported earlier this month, the US agency received 127 reports of adverse effects directly from customers after they used WEN.

This is currently the largest number of reports ever made about any cosmetic hair cleansing product, including cleansing conditioners.

FDA is also probing into the more than 21,000 complaints that were reported directly to Chaz Dean hair salon, and US-based direct-response marketing company Guthy Renker, which sells products directly to consumers.

The possible cause for the adverse effects with the use of the products has not yet been determined by the agency.

The FDA has urged all physicians and other health care providers to notify their patients about the several complaints associated with the use of the WEN products as well as to report the agency in case of any adverse effect.
