Tauriga Sciences completes reformulation of Cupuacu lip balm

Tauriga Sciences has completed the reformulation of its Cupuacu Butter lip balm product HerMan.

Produced in collaboration with cosmetics company Ice + Jam and research and development (R&D) firm Ariel Laboratories, the reformulation was designed to improve the product's texture and viscosity. New label design and graphics have also been added to the packaging.

Along with information on various ingredients present in the lip balm, the label now states that the product is free of parabens and gluten, as well as being cruelty free.

The main ingredient of the lip balm is theobroma grandiflorium, which is also known as cupuacu butter or superfruit. It acts like a skin hydrator and moisturiser due to its ability to attract water.

Cupuacu Butter is also reported to provide natural sun protection by absorbing ultraviolet (UV) A and B rays.

The reformulation was intended to retain the natural state and texture of the superfruit and to prevent drying in the packaging.

To determine the method for maintaining the butter’s natural state and texture, the firm had carried out testing using different emollients.

The first inventory base of the reformulated HerMan is expected to be available by the end of this month.
