Sun Chemical introduces SunSHINE Mystic Black pearlescent effect pigment

Sun Chemical has unveiled a new black pearlescent effect pigment SunSHINE, which can be used for creating bold formulations for lipsticks, mascara, eyeliners, eye shadows, and nail lacquers.

The company claims its SunSHINE Mystic Black Pigment is processed from synthetic mica, which makes the skin feel soft and has high-colour purity compared to natural mica.

The product has been designed to achieve a unique combination of jetness, coverage, sparkle, and luster.

Sun Chemical's performance pigments cosmetics technical manager Kelly Dobos said: “Cosmetic formulators are continually looking to expand their palette of colours to bring innovative products to life and perhaps the most requested effect pigment is a black pearl.

“We’re excited to offer our customers this innovative new product. It achieves a true black, which is unmatched in the market.”

The new pigment joins the company’s portfolio of pure synthetic mica-based pearlescent pigment colours, which range from silver and gold metallic effects to bright, sparkling accents in green and blue.

According to the firm, SunSHINE pigment has some of the lowest residual heavy metal levels available in the market today and its transparency, luster, chroma, broad range of particle sizes, and smoothness make SunSHINE ideal to be used in all finished product formulations.
