Singapore eDevelopment’s subsidiary and Chemia to develop functional fragrances

Singapore eDevelopment’s indirect subsidiary Global BioLife has partnered with US-based Chemia to develop specialised fragrances range Functional Fragrance Formulation (3F).

The first product to be developed under the collaboration, 3F will aim to provide protection against mosquitoes through the use of specialised oils extracted from botanicals found to be avoided by the pest.

With potential applications in personal care products such as shampoos, lotions, and laundry detergents, the fragrances are intended to help fight mosquito-borne diseases, while reducing stress and anxiety.

3F research is being led by Global BioLife Scientific Initiatives director Daryl Thompson. He said: “The specialised oils in 3F Mosquito are scientifically proven to affect mosquito’s receptors, essentially making the mosquito blind to your presence.”

Singapore eDevelopment’s wholly-owned Global BioMedical holds an 80% share in Global BioLife, while the remaining shares are held by US-based drug research firm GRDG Sciences and Australian biotech company Holista CollTech.

Singapore eDevelopment executive chairman and chief executive officer Chan Heng Fai said: “Global BioLife is proud to be taking steps to provide solutions to issues that have been plaguing the biomedical field for decades.
