Silab announces new study results for skin whitening ingredient

French natural ingredients firm Silab has released the results of efficacy studies for its skin lightening and whitening ingredient Whitonyl.

Whitonyl is designed to inhibit melanogenesis and control photo-induced pigmentation for luminous and uniform skin complexion.

It is sourced from the red algae Palmaria palmata, which is known to act against signs of photo-ageing and limit synthesis of stem cell factor (SCF).

The firm first reported Whitonyl's benefits in 2007. With the new studies, Whitonyl has demonstrated Whitonyl's ability to regulate epigenome of melanocytes and communication through keratinocyte exosomes.

The ingredient was assessed on the skin of Caucasian and Asian subjects, and is reported to have shown increased clarity of the skin, improved degree of pigmentation, and reduced yellow melanin pigmentation.

Available as an active ingredient in aqueous solutions and a preservative-free powder, Whitonyl is said to be compliant with cosmetic regulations in the US, Europe, Japan, and China.
