Shiseido selected as Dolce & Gabbana licensee

Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has chosen Japanese cosmetics firm Shiseido Group for its perfume portfolio.

Shiseido has entered into worldwide licence agreement as per which it will develop, manufacturing and distribute Dolce & Gabbana’s fragrance, make-up and skincare products lines.

Financial details of the transaction have not been divulged by the companies.

This partnership will start on 1 October following regulatory approval, reported Globalcosmeticsnews.com.

Dolce & Gabbana founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were quoted by the website as saying: "The standards, values and coherence and quality of the Shiseido Group perfectly mirror the positioning and path that we have decided to take with Dolce & Gabbana."

Shiseido Group CEO Masahiko Uotani said: "We are so proud to enrich our portfolio of prestige brands by such a beautiful luxury fashion brand. The licence agreement is aimed at strengthening our brand portfolio for the sake of future topline growth, which is part of Vision 2020 for Shiseido Group.

"The collaboration of our two companies, with their heritage rooted in such diverse cultures as Mediterranean style and Japan, opens excellent opportunities for creating new exciting values."

This partnership will enable Shiseido to boost its international turnover and presence in the luxury beauty industry.
