Sephora introduces new features on Virtual Artist application

Beauty retailer Sephora has added new features on its Sephora Virtual Artist application.

It has added a new false lash virtual try on to its lip function, as well as a new way to provide virtual tutorials on beauty with help of augmented reality technology.

It is available for download on the Sephora App.

This is the latest in a series of digital enhancements powered by the Sephora Innovation Lab.

Sephora Innovation vice-president Bridget Dolan said: "Live Tutorials are a revolutionary new way to learn new application techniques and trends, on your own face, one step at a time.

"The ability to leverage this exclusive augmented reality technology to mirror our Sephora store makeover experience on your own device is a game-changer for our users."

Making use of smartphone camera, Sephora Virtual Artist maps the location and shape of facial features using a technology that was developed by ModiFace, a firm into facial visualisation and skin analysis.

By using 3D live view that moves with the user similar to a mirror, clients can try on lip colours and false lashes.

The improved Sephora Virtual Artist Lip & Lash Try On enables users to try on over 90 false lash styles by brand and style.

Sephora Virtual Artist Virtual Tutorials provides instructions for creating a variety of trending looks, including Nighttime Smoky Eye and Eyeliner 3-Ways.
