Perfect Corp commissions consumer study on AR beauty shopping

Perfect Corp has commissioned a study by marketing research firm Intage to investigate consumer behaviour in regards to augmented reality (AR) shopping in the beauty industry.

Observations of offline and online shopping behaviour has suggested that mobile AR is an effective tool for cosmetic experimentation and is an attractive concept for millenials.

Studying 25,000 Japanese women aged between 15 and 69, the research compared the behaviours of YouCam Makeup app users over a period of one year with women who did not use the app.

App users were found to be 1.6 times more likely to purchase cosmetics and spend 2.7 times more money on beauty offerings when compared to women who did not use the app.

YouCam Makeup AR try-ons are said to double cosmetic sales, with some brands experiencing approximately six times the number of sales.
