Merck unveils new pigment for cosmetics products

Merck has unveiled new pigment Ronastar Frozen Jewel with a multi-layer technology to complement the Ronastar range.

The new pigment imparts a silver sparkle to cosmetics and bodycare products, making it ideal for use as a concealing power.

The multi-layer technology works with smooth glass platelets of inorganic calcium-aluminum borosilicate covered with several layers of metal oxides.

According to the company, the particles range in size from 20ìm to 200ìm and allow the reflection of incoming light. In addition, it was said the pigment is comparatively stronger than others with similar characteristics.

Merck's global marketing decorative materials head Alexander Peters said: “Thanks to its state-of-the-art multilayer technology, even smallest concentrations of Ronastar Frozen Jewel develop a maximum frost effect and exceptional hiding power."

The pigment is available as a white powder, which provides a shimmer when blended with other cosmetic colourants. It will also complement products such as loose or compact powders, eye shadows, lip makeup, and nail polish.
