Lush supports Humane Society International’s campaign to ban cosmetic animal testing

Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics has re-launched its New Shampoo Bar to promote Humane Society International’s global campaign against cosmetic animal testing.

The shampoo bar will now feature the charity organisation’s #BeCrueltyFree message in both English and simplified Chinese, which are considered the two most commonly used language in social media.

The campaign has drawn support from millions of people worldwide who signed #BeCrueltyFree petitions, urging the governments to impose ban on cosmetics testing on animals.

So far, 36 countries, including the European Union, Israel, India, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, and most recently Switzerland, have introduced a ban on the testing of cosmetics on animals or sales of such products.

Lush ethics director Hilary Jones said: “The horror of cosmetics testing will not be over for animals until the whole world switches to more modern non-animal safety testing methods.

“Only when this ugly practice is over will our industry truly be the beauty business. Until that day we all need to keep spreading the message, so it is an honour to be able to help Humane Society International’s global #BeCrueltyFree campaign.”

The New Shampoo Bar is a solid bar composed of cinnamon, clove essential oils and peppermint to stimulate the scalp by improving blood flow.

Addition of Rosemary in the product helps in soothing the scalp and results in shiny hair.
