L’Oreal to acquire Raylon assets to expand US hair salons distribution network

L’Oreal USA has agreed to acquire several assets of Hafetz family-owned Raylon Corporation, which supplies American hair salons with professional beauty products.

The purchase will expand SalonCentric’s distribution reach in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and parts of Maryland, West Virginia and New York.

Salon Centric was established in 2008 to distribute salon professional products. It operates in 48 states and its brands include L’Oreal Professionnel, Matrix, Mizani, Moroccanoil, Olaplex, Pravana, Pureology, Redken 5th Avenue, Sam Villa, Sexy Hair, Surface Hair, L’ANZA, and others.

The agreement will allow the Hafetz family to continue to serve the salon professionals with select brands in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New York areas under a new name – Art of Business.

The brands will function only under Art of Business and will be distinct from SalonCentric’s catalogue.

The acquisition will bring together Raylon’s field sales and stores and SalonCentric’s field sales and store network.

It will include a total of 13 stores and several field positions that provide services to 3,500 salons.

SalonCentric president Bertrand Fontaine said: "By increasing SalonCentric’s footprint we will be able to build relationships with beauty professionals in the Northeast and provide them with the brands, tools, education and support to help them grow their salon businesses."
