Johnson & Johnson partners with S-Biomedic for skincare solutions

Johnson & Johnson Innovation has partnered with biotech firm S-Biomedic as a part of its JLINX programme for the development of skincare solutions.

Johnson & Johnson Innovation has invested in S-Biomedic and the firms are working towards identifying microbiome-based skincare solutions for conditions such as acne, eczema, rosacea, and aging, which are caused due to bacteria present in the skin.

The method developed by S-Biomedic to directly regulate the skin's microbiome can be utilised in dermatology and the cosmetic industry.

Johnson & Johnson's chief scientific officer Paul Stoffels said: "We continue to pursue transformative healthcare solutions and form collaborations that explore the cutting edge of scientific research to achieve our primary goal of improving the quality of patients' lives.

"Through Johnson & Johnson Innovation, we are committed to identifying and advancing novel solutions in areas of significant need and creating customized deal structures with innovators in an effort to accelerate products to market."

Launched in 2016 in partnership with Bioqube Ventures, the JLINX programme focuses on identifying and helping startups positioned with the firm's businesses. It provides resources and approaches for startups to grow and collaborate.

Johnson & Johnson Innovation includes four regional innovation centres, eight incubators, venture capital funding, and partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotech firms.

The firm has made strategic partnerships with more than 300 firms, invested in more than 100 companies, and has incubations of more than 200 organisations.
