J&J to present new skin and haircare research in Europe

Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) consumer division is set to highlight its new research on skincare and haircare at the 2017 European Academy of Dermatology and Venerology (EADV) annual meeting to be held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Taking place from 13 September to 17 September, the congress showcases the latest innovations in dermatology and venerology.

Being presented for the first time in the EU market, the research includes topics such as the skin microbiome, light therapy for acne, retinol for anti-ageing, and hair loss treatment.

J&J's consumer Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) beauty research and development (R&D) senior director Lysianne Manoilov said: “Our scientists continue to follow exciting new clinical paths to uncover and develop transformative solutions for common skincare concerns.

“We innovate across the globe at more than ten R&D research centres on all seven continents.”

The presentations comprise the safety and efficacy data of a new, low-level blue and red light therapy face mask. This is designed for acne vulgaris, and it combined the anti-ageing effects of a retinol serum with N-acetylglucosamine.

In addition, new findings on the mechanism of action of Minoxidil Topical Foam in men with a hair loss condition called androgenetic alopecia will be highlighted during the conference.

The firm’s skin microbiome research involves effects on skin barrier properties with use of an atopic dermatitis lotion, and changes that occur in barrier and microbiome of children’s facial skin as they grow.
