Deinove and Greentech partner to develop new cosmetic ingredients

Deinove has partnered with Greentech to develop and market new active ingredients for skincare products, aiming to launch the first by the end of next year.

Greentech uses new biotechnologies to convert natural ingredients extracted from plant, marine, and microbial sources. With operations in Brazil, Germany, and the US, Greentech markets hundreds of active ingredients to cosmetics manufacturers in more than 30 countries.

Greentech's chief executive officer (CEO) Jean-Yves Berthon said: "In our developments, we aim to leverage the extraordinary ability of microorganisms to build mechanisms of adaptation and resistance in extreme environments, including hot, cold, hypersaline, radioactive, acid, and basic.

"Deinove's bacteria are unique and can bring real added value to our portfolio of ingredients intended to protect and beautify the skin.”

The firm has selected Deinove to produce new active substances from its panel of extremophile bacteria, and it has already screened strains to identify properties for utilisation in cosmetics.

Deinove's CEO Emmanuel Petiot said: "This co-development is a new way of making the most of our strain bank and our platform.

"While the cosmetics market is full of opportunities for Deinove, we can rely on Greentech who has expertise in this field and in its regulatory issues, and has a technical sales team that will be invaluable assets for the success of this project.”

The research and development (R&D) teams of both firms will continue testing and working on the production, purification, and formulation of various compounds.
