Deb’s manufacturing process free of plastic microbeads

Deb Group has claimed that its manufacturing process is completely free from plastic microbeads in North America.

Its primary product lines including Deb Stoko, DebMed and KrestoGT have been claimed to be free of microbeads since their launch.

According to the Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015, personal-care products should not contain microbeads can often reach water supplies.

It also bans sale of products containing microbeads from 1 July 2019.

Deb North America vice-president of marketing Isabelle Faivre said: "It is important for us to minimise our environmental footprint as much as possible. Last year, we launched the Deb Stoko range with microbead-free heavy duty cleansers. All Solopol and Kresto branded products have always contained natural scrubbers that are safe for the skin and our environment.

"Today, we are raising the bar by removing all plastic beads from our manufacturing process in the few remaining legacy formulations, hoping our competition will follow us soon. Plastic beads are toxic to the environment, polluting our water streams and food chain. And what you washed your hands with today may end up on your plate in the near future. "

Deb uses natural scrubbers including cornmeal, olive stone and walnut shells in cleansers.

These natural scrubbers come with a smoother texture, are safer for skin and biodegradable and can be easily rinsed away.
