Context receives growth equity funding from Volta Global

New York City based health and beauty brand Context has received a growth equity investment from private investment group Volta Global.

The beauty start-up intends to use the funding to enhance its growth from unisex skincare to lifestyle beauty sectors, including colour cosmetics, wellness, and home.

Context's founder David Arbuthnot said: "While Context built its brand recognition through our unisex skincare, Volta Global understood my vision to take the brand to the next level.

"Our partnership will allow me to focus on building brand awareness, product development, domestic and international distribution, and expansion of the direct-to-consumer site."

Following its recent launches into Anthropologie and Revolve, Context is planning to introduce a variety of skincare and colour products this year in the US in partnership with a select department store and later in Europe and Asia.

Volta Global's chairman Marko Dimitrijevic said: "Volta Global is proud to be providing growth capital and excited to be a part of the innovative approach that Context is bringing to both skincare and cosmetics.

Founded in September 2015, Context is the sixth e-commerce brand to be invested by Volta Global. The brand's portfolio includes beauty and vitamin skincare products sourced from natural ingredients such as herbal extracts and rich botanical oils.
