Ashland launches new anti-acne formulations kit

Specialty chemicals firm Ashland has launched a new range of six anti-acne formulation concepts to overcome challenges associated with active delivery, stability, and mildness of formulation.

Each of the formulations is created using a combination of Ashland’s ingredients, including FlexiThix and Stabileze QM polymers, to deliver acne actives along with ProLipid lamellar gel and Lubrajel hydrogel for moisturisation and formulation texture. The ingredients are chosen based on application and performance benefits.

The formulations also include Vital ET biofunctional to manage inflammation in-vitro and acne-redness, as well as Elixiance biofunctional for skin purifying benefits.

 

Ashland's skincare biofunctionals global marketing manager Justine Cotton said: “We are always solving. By combining our specialty polymers, rheology modifiers, and biofunctionals, Ashland offers a galenic approach to help optimise the performance of acne active ingredients, soothe irritated skin, and enhance the skin barrier function, while creating formulation textures to enhance consumer compliance."
 

Launched in different product forms, the firm intends to aid cosmetic and over-the-counter (OTC) product formulators, across application stages.

Based on the firm's Balance and Clear concept, a toner and cream has been created for pre-treatment, aiding the physical and biochemical skin barrier, preventing clogging of pores, and providing mild exfoliation.

The Clarifying Cleanser is designed to release salicylic acid, resulting in clearance of clogged pores. The spot cream and anti-acne gel concepts enable soft finish.

A Soothing Moisturiser meant for post-treatment has also been developed to soothe skin and minimise post-acne marks.
