Alastin reports positive results from three product studies

Specialty aesthetics firm Alastin Skincare has reported positive results from three studies evaluating its skincare products and technologies.

One study examined Alastin's Restore & Renew skincare range, which employs the firm's TriHex Technology. The other two investigator-blinded, randomised studies assessed the company's procedure enhancement system (PES).

Results from the topical applications of Restore & Renew products showed favourable changes to the extracellular matrix (ECM) of the skin after eight weeks.

Conducted by Dr Antoanella Calame, the study's biopsy assessment indicated generation of new collagen, elastin, and restoration of healthy skin cell structure.

The two separate PES studies found improved skin healing and patient experience post laser resurfacing.

Conducted by Dr Sabrina Fabi, the first study monitored the healing process in 15 female participants aged 45-70 for a period of 84 days.

The subjects underwent intense pulsed light (IPL) or pulse dye laser (PDL) with Q-switch-alexandrite and fractionated ablative CO² laser resurfacing of the face. Results showed statistically significant healing compared to treatment with traditional products.

Conducted by Dr Deanne Robinson, the second study included ten patients, who were pre-treated with Alastin PES on one half of the face or neck. The subjects then underwent non-ablative fractional thulium-doped laser resurfacing followed by split-face topical treatment during the healing period.

Results from day four post-treatment showed that PES provided better results on texture, sun spots, and skin quality, when compared to standard-of-care regimen.

Alastin will present the results from all three studies at the 7th Annual Summit in Aesthetic Medicine meeting to be held at California from 5 May to 7 May.
