Abattis’ Northern Vine develops CBD-based sunscreen

Canada-based biotechnology firm Abattis Bioceuticals’ subsidiary Northern Vine Canada has developed sun protection factor (SPF) 30 cannabidiol (CBD) based sunscreen formulation RAYZ.

The new formulation is intended to provide improved skin absorption alongside the benfits of CBD and cannabinoid-rich organic hemp oil.

This organic and chemical-free formulation is also claimed to contain a mineral active ingredient that minimises the risks associated with conventional chemical sun filters.

RAYZ chief developer Dr David Galvez said: “We have formulated and tested RAYZ to be complaint with health regulations in the North American, European, and Australian markets aiming to generate revenue year-round by taking full advantage of the summer season in both hemispheres.

“RAYZ is the first step in a line of skincare products that can be used during summer or winter while performing water-related activities, sunbathing, hiking, or just working in your garden.”

The water-resistant RAYZ sunscreen provides broad spectrum ultraviolet (UV) radiation protection and is considered to be compliant with recommendations of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and the Canadian Skin Cancer Foundation (CSCF).

Vergence Visionary Bioceuticals, another subsidiary of Abattis, is responsible for labelling, marketing, and distribution of RAYZ in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia..
