L’Oréal extends licence agreement with Armani

French cosmetics company L’Oréal has signed an agreement with Italian fashion house Armani to renew its licence until 2050.

The extended agreement will allow L’Oréal to continue creating perfumes, skincare products and makeup under the Giorgio Armani brand.

Launched in 1975, Armani has been working with L’Oréal since 1988. Some of the products in its Giorgio Armani portfolio include Acqua di Giò, Code Man, Les Eaux and La Collection fragrances, as well as Face Fabric makeup and Crema Nera Extrema skin treatment.

L’Oréal chairman and CEO Jean-Paul Agon said: “The renewal of our agreement with Armani demonstrates our confidence in the success of this partnership, which has proven its strength and coherence during all these years.

“There is a real synergy between the savoir-faire of L’Oréal and the exceptional creative inspiration of Giorgio Armani, which contribute to making Armani one of the most beautiful and dynamic beauty brands in the world.”

The licence renewal follows L’Oréal’s purchase of ModiFace, which is an artificial intelligence (AI) brand bringing augmented reality solutions to the beauty space. The acquisition is in line with L’Oréal’s digital acceleration strategy.

ModiFace uses facial features and colour tracking technology to develop three-dimensional (3D) makeup, colour and skin diagnosis solutions.
