Estée Lauder Companies appoints new senior vice-president to lead MAC

The Estée Lauder Companies has appointed Philippe Pinatel as its new senior vice-president and global general manager for its subsidiary unit MAC Cosmetics.

Succeeding MAC’s global brand president Karen Buglisi Weiler, Pinatel will report directly to executive group president of The Estée Lauder Companies John Demsey.

Buglisi Weiler will move into an advisory role to support MAC Cosmetics and The Estée Lauder Companies’ North America region from July this year.

Pinatel has more than 20 years’ experience in building fast-growing, large-scale online and retail operations.

He will help to increase MAC’s operational efficiency, while prioritising expansion and evolving distribution channels.

Demsey said: “Philippe shares our vision to propel the brand into its next chapter of growth, reinvigorating MAC’s presence and impact on the industry globally.

“He brings tremendous experience from disruptive online and retail channels that have experienced explosive growth under his direction.

Pinatel has served beauty retailer Birchbox as president and chief operations officer prior to his new appointment in MAC.

He served for various beauty brands and retails across the US, Canada, Europe, China and South Korea.
