Dr Plant launches dendrobium-based skin care products in China

China-based company Dr Plant has partnered with The Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), an affiliate of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), to launch a range of dendrobium skincare products.

KIB has found a natural compound Erianin bibenzyl in dendrobium plant with skin healing qualities. dendrobium DPPH boasts an anti-oxidant rate of 74.6%.

Dendrobium grows in the mountain ranges in Yunnan province, China, and erianin bibenzyl is a dendrobium functional gene clone with expression control.

The dendrobium skincare products are currently available for sale in Shibuya, Harajuku and Akihabar cosmetics stores across China.

In May 2016, Dr Plant entered into a formal agreement with Fosun Capital on strategic cooperation in cross-border integration and post-investment management.

Under the deal, the company established a centralised knowledge centre and marketing support system to promote its brand value and integrate cross-border resources through a sharing economy and platform.

Dr Plant is an independent Chinese brand offering a range of skincare products. It operates more than 2,500 outlets and has over 5.6 million members across the country.

The skincare company currently operates a germplasm repository and an alpine plant plantation in Lijiang, Yunan Province.
