Deinove and Oleos work together to drive cosmetic active ingredient development

French biotech firm Deinove has partnered with American chemical company Hallstar’s Oléos to develop a new cosmetic active ingredient.

The partnership will focus on bringing together the properties of Deinove’s strains and biological assets with Oléos’ Oleo-Eco-Extraction technology.

Deinove CEO Emmanuel PETIOT said: “This new partnership reinforces our strategy for the development of biosourced cosmetic ingredients. We are excited to collaborate with Oléos to develop what will be our third innovative active ingredient.”

Oleos has developed nearly 20 cosmetic active ingredients and marketed to brands in France and overseas.

With selected active strains from Deinove’s catalogue, Oleos will formulate a new natural ingredient by applying its extraction process to the bacterial biomass with Deinove’s optimised strain production.

Oleos general and scientific manager Anne Rossignol-Castera said: “We were attracted by the innovative nature of Deinove’s approach.

“The strain catalogue is very promising in terms of diversity and efficiency, which fits perfectly with our differentiation strategy and innovation model.”

Targeted to produce clinically proven stable oily active ingredient that conforms to cosmetics market standards, the product is expected for release at the end of the year.

Established in 2010, Oléos products rely on the synergy between the properties of vegetable oils together with the bio-molecules naturally present in plants, flowers, fruit and minerals.

Deinove is a biotech company that discovers, develops and produces compounds from microorganisms, applied in the fields of health, nutrition and cosmetics.

The firm maintains a library of 6,000 bacterial strains and holds a genetic platform to customise and transform the strains.
