Deinove and Hallstar-Oléos to develop new cosmetic ingredient

France-based biotech company Deinove and Hallstar-Oléos is planning to develop new cosmetic ingredient Oleoactive.

This will be the company’s second cosmetic ingredient under the collaboration and will be developed based on a new bacterial strain.

Deinove CEO Emmanuel Petiot said: “We are actively pursuing the development of our cosmetics activities, always exploiting the biodiversity of our library of rare bacterial strains.

“Our panel of 6,000 strains offers the possibility to multiply collaborative projects. The collaboration with Hallstar-Oléos is fruitful and we are pleased that the region is accompanying us in this new project.”

For both programmes, Deinove offers bacterial biomass after optimising production performance.

Leveraging its Oléo-Eco-Extraction process, Hallstar-Oléos extracts and performs valorisation to the compounds of interest.

Hallstar Oléos general and scientific manager Anne Rossignol-Castera said: “The potential of bacterial biomasses opens up a new field of innovation for natural, high-performance cosmetic ingredients.

“This new project, supported by our Region, will allow us to explore molecules that are different from those conventionally extracted from plants.”
