Real Techniques’ limited-edition makeup brush collection launched into space

Real Techniques has become one of the first brush brands to be sent into space with the launch of its limited-edition makeup brush collection Brush Crush Volume 2.

Working with Sent Into Space, Real Techniques launched its latest galaxy-inspired collection from Earth on 1 August using a helium-filled balloon.

The brushes ascended at a rate of 5m per second for 116 minutes and travelled to an altitude of 36,338m, surpassing the official point marking the boundary of near space (19,000m).

The collection rose up four times the height of Mount Everest, above 99% of the Earth’s atmosphere by mass, and was exposed to temperatures of -57°c at peak altitude. The brushes landed back near Thorne, South Yorkshire, UK.

The new Brush Crush Volume 2 collection was inspired by a lunar colour palette of icy silver and ombre violet hues. It features a powder brush, a foundation brush, a blush brush, a fan brush, a shadow brush, a kabuki brush and a cosmic sponge duo.

The powder brush, foundation brush, blush brush and fan brush carry a recommended retail price (RRP) of £12.99, while the shadow brush and cosmic sponge duo are available at an RRP of £9.99. The kabuki brush features an RRP of £16.99.

The powder brush features an arch shape that is claimed to be ideal for powder application, while the foundation brush has is a rounded buffing brush for applying both cream and liquid foundation.

The blush brush features a tapered tip that allows for concentrated blush application, while the fan brush has delicately cut fibres meant for diffused powder application.

With a softly tapered head, the shadow brush is said to offer a seamless blend, while the kabuki brush has a large, rounded head that can sweep bronzers and highlighters across the face, neck and décolletage.

In addition, the Cosmic Sponge Duo features a multi-faceted design that works on multiple areas of the face.
