Syska to venture into personal care category

Indian light emitting diode (LED) manufacturer Syska has announced plans to venture into the personal care category.

The company is expected to enter the personal grooming space this month with an e-tailer for the initial three months of roll out. Syska's latest entry is set to help fulfill grooming aspirations of both metro and non-metro consumers.

Business Standard quoted Syska Group director Rajesh Uttamchandani as saying: "The electronic personal care category has a huge scope in the industry. The category is also no longer specific only to women, the 2000cr category is growing at a healthy pace of 25%-30% year on year."

In the initial phase, the company plans to launch 30 beauty and grooming products for both men and women. Syska's  personal care products have been researched and crafted in South Korea and the range covers shavers, trimmers, and clippers for men and women.

Other products in the line include hair straighteners, dryers, epilators, curlers, and electronic exfoliators. With an investment of Rs1bn ($14.87m), the brand plans for expansion and marketing of these products.

The company is targeting the youth and has announced Sunny Leone, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Sushant Singh Rajput as brand ambassadors for its male and female categories.
