AMSilk secures Vegan Society trademark for cosmetic ingredients Silkbeads and Silkgel

Germany-based synthetic silk supplier AMSilk has secured a trademark from the Vegan Society for its cosmetics ingredients Silkbeads (microparticles) and Silkgel (hydrogel).

The trademark indicates that the firm's organic biopolymers do not contain any animal ingredients and that animal testing is not used at any point in the development or production process.

Recognised in the US, Europe, Canada, Australia, and India for food, cosmetics, and personal care products, the Vegan Society trademark aims to strengthen a brand’s credibility among customers and partners.

AMSilk's Silkbeads and Silkgel are designed to be integrated into beauty and personal care products to protect the skin against airborne pollutants and bacteria, as well as to maintain skin’s breathability.

The silk biopolymers are claimed to be well-tolerated by the skin and can be incorporated in a variety of creams, shampoos, and conditioners.

AMSilk entered into a collaboration with Switzerland-based Rahn, Spain-based DKSH Marketing Services, Italy-based Biochim, and South Korea-based Hanjoo to distribute the two products in several European countries and South Korea.

Distributed in the form of Silkbeads, Silkgel and Biosteel (fibers), AMSilk's biopolymers can be used in medicinal and textile products, in addition to the cosmetics and personal care products.
