Cabot launches third colouring power series for cosmetics

US-based specialty chemicals company Cabot has launched its third colouring power grade in the Norit E 153 activated carbon series for use in various cosmetic and food applications.

The new Norit A Ultra E 153 activated carbon is designed to provide cosmetics with a deep black colour. It is odourless, tasteless, and non-toxic.

The Norit A Ultra E 153 features narrow particle size distribution for better flow and rheology, ensuring consistent and reproducible colouring power in end products.

Cabot Pharmaceuticals' global segment manager David Flannery said: “With the launch of Norit A Ultra E 153 activated carbon, our customers can now choose from a complete colourant portfolio from high to low coloring power grades, to enable them to achieve their desired performance and colour, while complying with strict industry requirements.”

The Norit E 153 activated carbon series also contains low-power grade Norit SX Super E 153 activated carbon and medium-grade Norit A Special E 153 activated carbon.

All the products in the series can be used in various cosmetic and food applications to boost natural black colours, correct natural variations, impart colour to colourless products, and offset loss caused by exposure to light, air, moisture or storage conditions.
