MAC Cosmetics to launch #AaliyahforMAC collection in June

MAC Cosmetics has announced its plans to launch the Aaliyah Collection to honour late R&B singer Aaliyah in response to a request signed by 26,000 fans.

To be released in high street and online stores in mid-June, the collection will include an eyeshadow palette with nine colours and a single lipstick.

The collection is also supported by Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton and her former makeup artist Eric Ferrell.

It was claimed Aaliyah used MAC products such as Chestnut Brown Lip Liner and Espresso Eyeshadow.

MAC wrote on its Instagram page: “Aaliyah super-fans everywhere, you made it happen! Inspired by your loyalty and love, the 90s-glam #AaliyahForMAC collection is coming soon! Aaliyah lives on in a makeup collection influenced by her groundbreaking work in music and film.

“Together in partnership with the family, we are celebrating Aaliyah’s life and talent alongside her countless admirers. #AaliyahforMAC is a tribute to the late singer brought about by the passion of her fans”.

Aaliyah died in 2001 at age of 22 in an aeroplane crash.

MAC Cosmetics has previously partnered with celebrities such as Mary J Blige, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj to release makeup lines.
