Intercos, Sumitomo and Summit Pharmaceuticals to start joint business in cosmetic ODM

Italian firm Intercos has collaborated with Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation and Summit Pharmaceuticals International plans to form a cosmetic original design manufacturing (ODM) joint venture (JV) in Japan.

Through the partnership, the companies intend to help address increasing health and beauty needs globally, as well as further enhance their mutual strengths.

The companies have also planned to carry out research and development (R&D) activities to help them provide technical services to local clients.

In addition, the businesses are expected to open a store in Tokyo this year.

Intercos is a global ODM company that produces colour cosmetics, skincare products, active ingredients and toiletries.

Founded in 1972, the cosmetic company serves more than 430 clients globally, with services ranging from product design and concept creation to manufacturing of end products, with additional branding and retailing support.

With 880 employees, 11 global R&D sites and 15 marketing locations, Intercos produces 1,000 new formulas every year.

Intercos has 15 plants in Europe, the US, Brazil, China and Korea, which help it serve all product categories, including an overall capacity of 15,000 bulk tons and more than 1.6 billion pieces.
