M&As this week: Unilever, Luxury Brand

Unilever is set to acquire Sundial Brands to expand its product portfolio in the personal care category.

Based in the UK, Unilever is a consumer goods manufacturer, whereas Sundial Brands is a skincare and haircare products manufacturer based in the US.

Sundial Brands will operate as a standalone unit within Unilever upon completion of the acquisition in Q1 2018.

Luxury Brands intends to expand into the beauty business through the acquisition of FHI Brands, a US-based haircare appliances and products manufacturer.

FHI Brands expects the acquisition to provide the required resources to expand its distribution and e-commerce business, as well as allow for a significant investment in product research and development (R&D).
