German skincare market to grow slow: Report

The German skincare market’s future growth is forecasted to be slower than its growth during 2006 to 2011, according to a new survey from Canadean – Health & Beauty.

Canadean’s report, ‘The Future of the Skincare Market in Germany, to 2016’ revealed that the market value of the industry jumped 38%in 2011 compared with 2006, and is now poised to record 23% growth in 2016 over 2011.

Germans are observed to be more affectionate towards facial care products – as the segment has been holding the highest market share of around 60% from 2006 through 2016. The segment saw a CAGR of 6.33% during 2006-11 and is set to grow at a rate of 3.77%in the forecast period.

The survey has also noted a growing trend for body care segment among German consumers, which was next to facial care with around 30% market share. Body care grew at 7.47% in the review period and is likely to grow at 5.27% during 2011 to 2016.

All the remaining segments of the German skincare industry, comprising depilatories, hand care, and make-up remover too have been on growth course from 2006 until 2011 and are expected to continue the momentum further.
