Canada’s Crescita Therapeutics purchases Sanofi’s Alyria skincare range

Canadian dermatological firm Crescita Therapeutics’ subsidiary Intega Skin Sciences has purchased the Alyria skincare range from Sanofi’s Consumer Health division.

The Alyria line comprises non-prescription, medical skincare products formulated to address problems of any skin type. The products feature a combination of skincare technologies and ingredients at effective concentrations to provide healthy skin.

The range is intended to complement Intega’s Pro-Derm dermaceutical product line and Laboratoire Dr Renaud skincare collection.

Pro-Derm is designed using cosmetic and pharmaceutical technology benefits to target skin rejuvenation and anti-aging, while Laboratoire Dr Renaud comprises personalised solutions to address acne, rosacea, pigmentation, dehydration, sensitivity, as well as aging.

Crescita Therapeutics president Serge Verreault said: "This acquisition provides Crescita with a number of immediate benefits, including synergies in leveraging our sales and marketing infrastructure and know-how, increasing our manufacturing capacity utilisation and increasing our product offering to international markets.

“In addition, we gain more than 200 new customers to expand the sales reach of our existing product lines.”

Following the acquisition, Alyria products that are currently available through physicians, will be sold via Crescita’s existing sales and marketing network.

Furthermore, the manufacturing operations for certain Alyria products will be transferred to Crescita's Laval facility.

The transaction involved a cash consideration of $1.7m to be paid in fixed cash instalments, and a royalty agreement associated with annual net sales of Alyria for nine years starting in 2020.
