Lucas Meyer introduces new skin care ingredient to tackle anti-aging

Cosmetic ingredients manufacturer Lucas Meyer has introduced Progeline, a new skin care ingredient developed specially to combat the toxic and damaging protein progerin, which plays a important role in the skin ageing process.

According to the France-based firm, the ingredient is a 3 amino acids peptide biomimetic of Elafin, an enzyme inhibitor involved in extracellular matrix integrity, reported cosmeticsdesign-europe.com.

The firm said the new active is a combination of growth factors, stem cell technology, telomerase activators and sirtuins activators that all leverage the rapidly opening area which will focus on retarding the ageing process.

Lucas Meyer said through a wide research and development, the Progerin, present in fibroblasts and keratinocytes, which accumulates into higher levels as one ages , has become a biological indicator of cellular aging.

The firm said the understanding about Progeria, an accelerated aging condition found in children, has revealed information about the toxic protein.

According to the firm, the aging process can be characterised by the build-up of the toxic protein, which is detrimental to cellular activity and DNA replication.

The firm said the new ingredient increases skin firmness, elasticity and viscoelasticity, manifesting its efficacy on skin relaxing and drooping, while decreasing the production of progerin.
