Anti-aging face creams attract American women most : Report

American women are said to be leading the way in use of anti-aging facial skincare products in comparison to their counterparts in Germany, France and UK, according to a report by media intelligence supplier, Mintel.

Global New Products Database report by Mintel said that the $2.3bn (2011) US anti-aging skincare market had reported a substantial growth in the past five years, as women hanker to fight the signs of aging.

The report said that the West, particularly the nations of the US, UK and France, launched maximum anti-aging products during 2009-11 period unlike the Asian nations of Japan and China.

Thirty-seven percent of the American women used anti-aging products and serums for the face in comparison to 23% of women in the UK, 24% of women in France, 25% of German women and 26% of Spanish women.

Mintel said that just 4% of the US women claimed to use anti-aging device to fight against fine lines and wrinkles; while 35% said that they did not use an at-home anti-aging device, but would be open to trying out one of them.

In addition, the report added that 40% of the US women are more interested in at-home treatments as compared to 32% who have visited/would visit a professional for non-invasive anti-aging treatments.

Global personal care analyst Amy Ziegler said that embracing technology in the beauty regimen is the next logical step.

Mintel’s Global New Products Database also reported that France and the US had 47% of skincare launches during 2009-11, featuring anti-aging claims, followed by 46% in the UK, 27% in China and 19% in Japan.
